Substitutions

Peanut Butter: Swap with almond butter, cashew butter, or sunflower seed butter for a nut-free version.

Honey: Use maple syrup or agave nectar as a vegan alternative.

Jelly/Jam: Feel free to use your favorite jelly or jam! Opt for low-sugar or homemade chia jam to reduce added sugars.

Rolled Oats: Quick oats can be used for a softer texture; ensure they’re certified gluten-free if needed.

Coconut Oil: Melted butter or a neutral oil like avocado oil can be used instead of coconut oil.

  1. Do they need to stay in freezer to keep shape and stay fresh? Or can they stay room temp or kept on fridge once they’ve set in freezer?

  2. I almost never comment on recipes, but THIS ONE…this is a keeper! Not only does my 4-year-old love these, but I do, my parents do…they simply didn’t last very long! Love that my little dude and I could make them together, they were clean eating, delicious and everyone got to enjoy! We keep them in the freezer and just pop one out when we want to. We made them in regular size muffin tins and mini…SO GOOD!

  3. These look like such a great treat, but I’m wondering just how messy they are with a two year old? I’m thinking the peanut butter will soften and be everywhere. If so, would they work with an additional thin layer of the oat mixture on top, more like a sandwich?

Delicious!!! Such a wonderful recipe. My toddlers and I love these. They need to stay frozen though, they melt very quickly. This recipe is a keeper.

  5. Quick question: I’ve never used coconut oil before but have enough recipes in my “want to try” pile that I think I need to get some. I’m looking and the choices are unrefined or refined. Which would be better?

These are delicious! Wondering if keeping them in the freezer prevents fermentation since the oats aren’t cooked? Thanks!
