This applesauce is only 1 ingredient and is perfect for babies just starting on their solids journey, toddlers, or the whole family!

Ingredients:

  • 6 apples (any variety you prefer)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Apples: Start by peeling, coring, and chopping the apples into chunks. This helps them cook faster and blend more smoothly.
  2. Cook the Apples: In a large saucepan, add the chopped apples and enough water to just cover them. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Boil Until Soft: Once the water is boiling, continue to cook the apples for about 5 minutes, or until they are soft enough to easily pierce with a fork.
  4. Blend Until Smooth: Drain the apples and transfer them to a blender or food processor. Blend the apples until you reach your desired consistency.
  5. Serve: Let the applesauce cool slightly before serving it to your toddler. You can serve it as is, or mix it with a bit of cinnamon.

Why This Recipe is Great for Toddlers and Families:

  1. Nutritious and Natural: Apples are full of vitamins like vitamin C and fiber, which are important for your toddler’s growth and digestion. Since this applesauce is unsweetened, it allows the natural sweetness of the apples to shine, making it a healthy snack without any added sugar.
  2. Easy to Make: With just one main ingredient and minimal prep, this recipe is quick and easy. It’s a great way to offer your toddler a homemade snack that’s both nutritious and delicious.
  3. Versatile: You can serve this applesauce on its own as a snack, use it as a topping for oatmeal, yogurt, or pancakes, or even add it to baked goods for natural sweetness. You can also adjust the consistency by adding more or less water during the blending process, depending on your toddler’s preferences.
  4. Toddler-Friendly: The smooth texture of applesauce makes it perfect for toddlers who are just learning to eat solid foods. Plus, the mild flavor is usually a hit with little ones, and it’s easy for them to digest.

Storage Instructions:

  • Refrigerator: Store the applesauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. It’s perfect for making ahead and keeping on hand for snacks throughout the week.
  • Freezer: If you want to make a large batch, you can freeze the applesauce. Pour it into freezer-safe containers or ice cube trays (for portioning) and freeze for up to 3 months. To thaw, simply leave it in the refrigerator overnight or defrost in the microwave.
