This is another 5 ingredient or less dinner that is a huge hit in our house! My kids love pizza, and I love making these pinwheels because they take no time at all. I love that you can add spinach or whatever other toppings you want to get a little more nutrition into your kids!

When it comes to feeding toddlers, simplicity and fun often go hand in hand. Pizza Pinwheels are the perfect example of a hassle-free dinner that toddlers and the whole family will love. With just five simple ingredients, these pinwheels are not only easy to make but also a great way to involve your little one in the kitchen. To add more nutrition to this meal, I like to add a little bit of sweet potato puree into the pizza sauce. You can’t taste it at all and it’s just one of the many ways I like to add a little more nutrition into my kids! I highly recommend doing this if you are having trouble getting your toddler to eat veggies.

I just use a jar of sweet potato baby food. Then I pour some pizza sauce into a bowl, and add some of the sweet potato puree right into it!


  • 1 can crescent roll dough
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Pepperoni slices
  • 1 jar pizza sauce
  • Sweet potato puree for a hidden veggie (totally optional)
  • Any additional toppings your toddler enjoys (e.g., chopped spinach, bell peppers, olives)


  1. Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the Dough: Open the can of crescent roll dough and roll it out onto a clean surface. Using your fingers, gently press and seal any perforations in the dough, ensuring it forms one continuous sheet.
  1. Add Pizza Sauce: Spread pizza sauce evenly over the entire surface of the dough. Leave a small border along one edge to help with sealing.
  2. Layer on Cheese and Toppings: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce-covered dough. If you’re adding any additional toppings, like chopped spinach or other veggies, add them at this stage. Finally, layer pepperoni slices (or any other toppings your toddler loves) evenly over the cheese.
  1. Roll It Up: Starting from the opposite edge of the small border you left earlier, carefully roll up the dough and toppings into a log. Roll it tightly to ensure the pinwheels hold their shape.
  1. Slice into Pinwheels: Using a sharp knife, cut the rolled-up log into 1/2-inch thick slices, creating individual pinwheels.
  1. Prepare the Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange the pinwheels on the sheet, ensuring they are not too close to each other.
  2. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 12 minutes or until the pinwheels are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  3. Cool and Serve: Allow the Pizza Pinwheels to cool for a few minutes before serving. They are delicious served warm or at room temperature. I love to serve them with a side of pizza sauce to dip in!


To store any leftover Pizza Pinwheels:

  • Refrigeration: Place the pinwheels in an airtight container and store them in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days.

Pizza Pinwheels

  • Open the can of crescent roll dough and roll it onto a clean surface. Using your fingers, gently press and seal and perforations in the dough.
  • Spread pizza sauce evenly over the entire surface of the dough.
  • Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the sauce. Now add whatever toppings you want. I always love to add pepperoni and spinach for my kids!
  • Starting from one side, tightly roll the whole thing into a log.
  • Using a sharp knife, cut the rolled up log into 1/2 inch thick slices, creating the individual pinwheels.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange all the pinwheels on the sheet.
  • Cook the pinwheels in the oven for about 12 minutes or until they are golden brown. Cool and serve with a side of pizza sauce to dip!


If you want to add a hidden veggie, mix some sweet potato puree into the pizza sauce. You can’t even taste it! I just use baby food sweet potato.
