Substitutions

Cottage Cheese

  • Swap with Greek yogurt for a tangy, high-protein twist.
  • For dairy-free, use vegan cream cheese, coconut milk, or a plant-based cream.

Spinach

  • Use fresh or frozen spinach—just thaw frozen and squeeze out excess water.
  • Or swap in kale or peas for variation.

Pasta

  • Choose any short pasta (like fusilli, shells, or penne).
  • For gluten-free, use your favorite gluten-free pasta.

Storing Extra Spinach Cottage Cheese Pasta

Any leftover Creamy Spinach Pasta can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days or freezer for up to a month. To reheat, simply warm the pasta in the microwave or on the stovetop until heated through, adding a splash of water or milk to loosen the sauce if needed.

Common Questions

Can I use Greek yogurt instead of cottage cheese?

  • Yes! Greek yogurt gives a creamy texture with extra protein. For best results, avoid high-heat to prevent separation.

Is this cottage cheese spinach pasta gluten-free?

  • It can be—just swap in gluten-free pasta, and double-check any additional ingredients for gluten-free labels.

Is this recipe toddler and blw-friendly?

  • Yes—it’s smooth enough for little ones, but blend until fully smooth, cool to toddler-safe temperature, and cut into small pieces before serving to younger children.

  • 8 oz baby spinach
  • 1 lb pasta, of your choice
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Cook the pasta according to the package instructions.
  • While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, or until fragrant.

Super easy to make and super delicious! My picky toddler loved his green pasta! I have soooo much left over 😅, can I freeze it or is that crazy??

Great simple recipe! My one year old loves it! My three year old wouldn’t try it, but you win some and lose some, lol. I use milk instead of water, then portion it out into snack size bags and freeze it. Then, on a busy night, pop one in the microwave, pair with some strawberries, and dinner is served! Thank you 🙂

  4. Huge hit with our almost 2-year-old (and us too)! Simple, healthy, and delicious. Will definitely be making this again!
