As parents, we’re always on the lookout for creative and nutritious snack ideas to keep our little ones happy and healthy. Today, I want to share a fantastic toddler-friendly recipe that’s sure to be a hit in your household: Banana Dippers! These are not only easy to make but also a fantastic way to introduce your toddler to the deliciousness of bananas. Plus, they’re a great source of potassium and fiber.
Why Banana Dippers Are Great for Toddlers
- Nutrient-Rich Bananas: Bananas are a fantastic source of essential nutrients like potassium, vitamin C, and vitamin B6. They are known for their natural sweetness, which will appeal to your toddler’s taste buds.
- Toddler-Approved: The combination of bananas and a slightly sweet pancake coating makes Banana Dippers a perfect choice for picky eaters. They’ll love the taste, and you’ll love the health benefits.
- Easy to Make: This recipe is incredibly easy to prepare. You’ll have a tasty breakfast ready in no time, making it ideal for busy moms.
- Versatile: You can customize this recipe to suit your child’s taste. You can serve Banana Dippers with a variety of dipping sauces, but one of my favorites is melted peanut butter.
Ingredients:
- 2 ripe bananas
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
Instructions:
- Peel and Slice: Start by peeling the bananas and then slicing them in the middle. After that, slice each half lengthwise to create four equal pieces per banana.
- Prepare the Pancake Mix: In a bowl, combine the flour, milk, and egg to create a pancake batter. Stir well until you have a smooth mixture.
- Dip the Bananas: Carefully dip each banana slice into the pancake batter, ensuring they’re evenly coated.
- Cook: You have two cooking options:
- On the Stove: Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and add a little cooking oil. Cook the banana slices on both sides until the pancake batter is cooked and turns golden brown.
- In an Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Place the banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket and cook for about 10 minutes, flipping them halfway through until they’re crispy and golden.
- Serve with Peanut Butter: Microwave a spoonful of peanut butter for about 30 seconds, or until it’s soft and easy to drizzle. I like to drizzle the melted peanut butter over the Banana Dippers for an extra layer of flavor and a source of healthy fats.
Storage:
If you have any leftover Banana Dippers, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days. To reheat, simply pop them in the microwave for a few seconds or use your oven or air fryer to regain their crispy texture.
