Smoothie Bowl

Breakfast time with a toddler can go one of two ways—either it’s calm and easy or total chaos. I started making this smoothie bowl as a way to switch things up from our usual morning routine. Turns out, putting the smoothie in a bowl and letting my kid toss on some toppings totally changed the game.

This recipe is super quick, and I almost always have everything I need in the fridge or freezer. You just toss some frozen fruit, spinach, banana, yogurt, and a splash of milk into a blender, then pour it in a bowl. The toppings are where the fun happens—my toddler loves adding blueberries, Cheerios, or even a few sprinkles if we’re feeling wild.

It’s a fun way to get in some fruit and even sneak in some spinach without a big fuss. And bonus: it feels like something a little different, but it’s just as easy as a regular smoothie.

What makes these so fun is that you can choose what fruit you want to add to the top. Bonus if you let your toddler help with that! Getting toddlers to help in the kitchen can do wonders for getting them to eat the food they make.

Why Smoothie Bowls are Great for Toddlers

Fast – You can blend it up in like 3 minutes, which is key when everyone’s hungry.

Healthy – It’s got fruit, yogurt, spinach, and no added sugar.

Kid-Approved – They think it’s fun to add toppings and eat it with a spoon.

Easy to change up – Use whatever fruit you have on hand.

What You Will Need

  1. 1 cup Frozen strawberries- If you don’t have frozen you can do normal and add some ice.
  2. 1/2 cup Frozen blueberries- Same as above
  3. 1 cup Spinach-I love to add spinach to my toddler’s smoothies for extra nutrition!
  4. 1 Banana- this gives the smoothie a sweet flavor.
  5. 1/2 cup Yogurt- you can use plain or vanilla.
  6. 3 tbsp Milk- use any milk you want.

Instructions

1. Place all ingredients into a blender.

2. Blend until smooth and creamy.

3. Pour the smoothie into a bowl.

4. Top with your choice of sliced fruits, granola, or seeds.

5. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Storage

This smoothie bowl is best enjoyed fresh. If you need to prepare it ahead of time, store the smoothie base in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Give it a good stir before serving, as separation may occur. Add toppings just before eating to maintain their texture and freshness.
